Keely Hodgkinson concluded her two-lap season with a win at the women-only Athlos meet in New York on Friday night.
{The current Olympic gold medallist, who secured third place at the global championships recently, dominated an outstanding win in 1:56.53 in what was just her sixth appearance in a season impacted by a hamstring injury.
Compatriot and global silver winner Georgia Hunter Bell finished second once more in 1:58.33, while the athlete from St Vincent Shafiqua M. (1:58.57) secured third place.
"I've barely raced this season so it was likely less of a struggle for me to compete and be motivated to perform," said Hodgkinson.
"The atmosphere at the event is incredible so it was extremely enjoyable."
The female-exclusive meet filled the stadium in its second year, bringing a festive vibe to conventional athletics, with live music and special crowns substituting standard medals.
The tennis legend with 23 major titles Serena Williams, who is married to Athlos founder Alexis O., was on hand to present the victors with their tiaras.
Last year's winners took home $60,000 (forty-four thousand six hundred and three pounds) - among the biggest cash prizes in track and field.
The competition also attracted several top athletes, as Kenya's triple Olympic champion and world record holder Faith K. triumphed in the mile race, finishing in four hours 17.78 minutes.
The US Brittany B., the 200m bronze medallist from last year's Paris Olympics, won the sprint double.
